The Golden Rule
“And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.”
From the Bible, King James Version Luke 6:31
Paraphrased, this injunction says, “Do to others as you would want them to do to you.” This is commonly called the Golden Rule of the Bible. Here at Martin Energy Group, we wish to serve our customers with dignity and respect –in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity as outlined in God’s Word, the Bible. We are humans. We make mistakes. But if we abide by the Golden Rule, we are confident that we can work together, with you as our client, to provide a satisfactory, dependable solution to your electric power needs.
Our History
We trace our roots back to the 1930s when Isaac Martin (father of Martin Machinery founder Harlan Martin) added a 7kw electric motor to the hammer mill on the Martin farmstead, near New Holland, PA. One of the first of its kind in the area. Electrical power for the motor was drawn from the single, main electrical line which ran by the farm into New Holland. The line originated at a waterwheel used to turn a generator, about 1 mile from the farm. The Martins were asked not to run their motor during midday when power demands in New Holland were at a peak.
After years of working with his father and brother in Genset sales and service, Harlan founded Martin Machinery in Martindale, PA (Lancaster County) in 1976. The focus was refurbishing gensets, of which the majority was for the former O’Brien Machinery.
Harlan also sold PTO farm-type generators, and gradually moved into the used and new diesels for emergency standby for farms and institutions, such as hospitals, nursing homes, etc., as well as heavy power requirement beyond the grid, for applications such as coal mines, saw mills, portable batch plants, portable crushers, etc.
In 1986, the Harlan Martin family moves to Missouri where Harlan takes a pastorate at a new congregation near Latham, MO and moves Martin Machinery to the Mid-Missouri area.
In 2015, Harlan’s son, Marcus, takes over the business as sole proprietor. Martin Machinery is dissolved as an entity, and Martin Energy Group (MEG) is formed, with Marcus Martin as CEO. California-based digester construction company Martin Construction Resource (MCR) was added to the family of companies in 2016.
Today, Martin Energy Group headquarters is located in Tipton Missouri with over 100 employees at 6 locations across the US.
